With overgeneralization we reach the wrong conclusion and then believe it, usually because we are feeling bad.
So, when we find ourselves using the words...…….always……… never
Stop, question and weaken the belief-
How can I really know that I will always suffer anxiety attacks?
How can I know I will never get back to feeling good?
How can I know all of my future relationships will also be bad?
How can I know it is really true if the thing/event has only happened once or twice? We really don't have any evidence for reaching the wrong conclusion.
Once we've done this we can start to to create a new, more positive belief in place of the other one.
