Change – Mental negative filter

When we put our attention on something negative repeatedly it becomes a habit.

How can we break this habit?
Maybe we have a problem at work, which we endlessly ruminate on.
Ask questions-
Are we taking on the burden of someone else's responsibility?
Are we making the problem much more important than it really is, when is just one part of our lives?

Or someone makes an unkind or thoughtless remark to us and we are unable to stop thinking about it. We can give it a new meaning? I know this person can be insensitive. This comment says more about them than it does about me. I will do something positive for myself now instead of being over sensitive about something which is out of my control.

Or we receive some bad news and are unable to let it go. Is there something I can do to help? If not (maybe say a prayer or send some healing), then all I can do is accept the news and come back to the present moment instead of spending time in my head dwelling on it.

Sometimes we just get stuck on these negative thoughts and find it very difficult to change our focus. We need to do something stronger. Here is a technique that can really help. Click

We also so focus on negative things internally. It could be repeatedly focusing our attention on the unpleasant sensations of anxiety.
Or getting stuck on and repeatedly thinking about a painful emotion. Or we have a worry and then obsess about it. Please click here for the overcome anxiety course in which you also find the technique above.

There is another thing which we do which is discounting the positive. Anxiety sufferers very often discount the times of the day when they feel better and even during these moments of relief focus and dwell on the anxiety
Often we do things extremely well but find reasons why it is not good enough. Or even when we receive praise we often discount it and put ourselves down. With this type of thinking we filter out the positive in order to focus on the negative. When we focus our attention on the negative it affects our whole view of life and we feel much worse as a result.
