It’s not what happens to you……

However, this event affected them both very differently. Even though Daisy’s brother was the one who physically suffered the capture, he was able, after the initial shock, to shake off the event.
In fact he wore his escape as a badge of honour and gained the status of a hero.”

Daisy’s brother escaped the cat whereas daisy became a prisoner of her own mind.

So how how did this happen?

We always have a choice how we react to the events in our lives.

‘It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.’ Epictetus

They both reacted to the event in different ways but they also did one other incredibly important thing.

They both interpreted the event in different ways and gave it a different meaning.

This gave them a new belief about what happened and so had a dramatic influence on how they felt going forward.
