Choosing Bridge

Over the Bridge – Book Cards

Deep in thought, he looked up and there, etched into the
grain of one of the bridge’s posts, he was convinced that
he saw the words:

‘Choose now’

Milo blinked and then looked again, but they were gone.

In that moment, he realised he he always had the power to choose.

The first Bridge in Over the Bridge is the Choosing Bridge.
It’s the starting point.

We always have a choice, but we get so caught up in believing our thoughts and patterns of thinking that we often forget this incredible power we have—at all times, in every moment of our lives.

Our power is always in the present moment.

So the first bridge, the beginning—the Choosing Bridge—is about becoming aware.
Awareness is the key.

Becoming aware and realising we have the power to choose is the moment we break free from being stuck in our thoughts. We move from being unconscious to conscious.

From that place of awareness, we can observe our thoughts and see them for what they are—just thoughts. Our thoughts are not facts. We are not our thoughts. They simply come and go.

If we take the analogy further, the bridge and the river represent this:

As we walk alongside the river—where the river is our stream of thoughts and consciousness—every time we become aware, a bridge appears with a signpost. In that moment, we have the power to choose: to continue walking along the river, thinking the same thoughts, or to shift our focus, cross the bridge, and in doing so, change how we think and feel.

This is the beginning of change.
And the beauty of it is that we can do this anytime, anywhere, and as often as we wish.

The ability to choose is one of our greatest gifts—something to honour and cherish.

Understand this idea and embrace it, and your life will begin to change.

Welcome to the beginning of the journey—
the journey to discover your true self.
