First of all just notice how you are feeling.
Are you looking at things negatively, making judgements or creating new beliefs based on these feelings?
Remember emotions always pass. They are like clouds they come and go. But a judgement or a belief about something can last a very long time.
A classic example is a person with a phobia of flying, who then believes that flying is dangerous.
Someone with anxiety, who feel scared all the time, thinks that the world is an unsafe place.
Someone who has been let down in a relationship and feels very upset reasons that relationships are a waste of time.
Emotional reasoning is something that is so easy to do.
When we are feeling really happy often the world seems to be a great place full of friendly people.
When we're anxious and feeling low often the world does not seem such a great place and people don't seem as friendly.
Are your emotions getting in the way of seeing things as they really are and causing you to feel bad?
